Migdalia van der Hoven is an international award winning Mexican-British drummer who is currently working in the UK's musical theatre, jazz and function scene. Credit highlights include: Little Shop of Horrors UK Tour 2024, main chair for SIX the Musical International Tour 2022- 2023 and deputy for the current Tour and West End run; Salty Brine's Living Record Collection at the Soho Theatre; Cake the Musical at the Lyric Theatre West End;  Billie The Kid at The Vaudeville Theatre West End; Cinderella at Watford Palace Theatre (with further West End projects coming soon); and drummer for the The Coronation Prom held at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the All Souls Orchestra.

She is a Canopus Drums, Vater Percussion, Bosphorus Cymbals and RTOM Corporation endorser and artist.

Migdalia is a Berklee College of Music graduate (having studied and performed with Jackie Santos, Terri Lynn Carrington, Victor Mendoza and Mark Walker) and also the current UK Ambassador for "Women in Jazz Media".

She is known for her groove, sensitivity and versatility across multiple genres such as funk, jazz, latin, pop and musical theatre.

Her current project is the "The Migdalia van der Hoven Quartet" which released an EP "Girl Facing South" during 2021 and followed this up with a full album "Point of Departure" recorded at Abbey Road Studios and launched in April 2023. The album release has been supported with a series of concert dates in and around London (Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Piano Smithfield, The Crypt at St. Martin's in the Fields, Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club) including the EFG London Jazz Festival 2021, 2022 and 2023. Both the EP and album comprise a mix of original and West Coast fusion tracks and has already received a number of very positive reviews from Grammy Award winning artists and airplay on multiple stations in the UK, Mexico, Spain and USA. These are available on all digital platforms.

Migdalia has performed across the UK with The Kingdom Choir, Scott Stroman, Mawaan Rizwan, Russell Brand, Adam Glasser, Karl Theobald, The All Souls Orchestra and has made multiple appearances on the BBC and ITV. She was part of the Cornbury Festival in 2022 and billed alongside artists such as Bryan Adams, Jools Holland and Ronan Keating. She is also a member of the National Jazz Orchestra of Mexico which supports young women through scholarships to continue their studies in jazz.

She has previously held drum masterclasses in the UK and Mexico and offers these internationally - she was in the line-up for the

UK Drum Show 2023 as a panelist.

Migdalia was named "Woman of the Year" in Mexico in 2022 for her contributions to arts and culture.
